What is Junebug?

Junebug's a new kind of dating site. Our only goals are to figure out what you want and how to provide it to you in a way that makes sense. We're not here to tell you who you should date or what kind of person you'd be happiest marrying. And we're definitely not going to overwhelm you with a search list of matches that you couldn't possibly be less interested in. We just want to provide you with some good options and then let you decide for yourself.

How we match people

We've got a totally new approach to matching people, but we need your help. We need you to give us basic some basic information about yourself. Then we need you to rate a bunch of the profiles we show you. When you've rated 50 profiles or so, we'll have enough information to start really customizing the site to your preferences. As you rate even more profiles, we'll get better and better at inferring your preferences. To make sure we're doing a good job, we'll even ask you whether or not we're getting anywhere from time to time. Please do let us know if we're doing a good job.

Think of us as a real matchmaker that will get to know your tastes in potential dates over time. In the real world, your friends can usually tell who you're going to like right off the bat. And they definitely know who you're not going to have any interest in. We think that we can learn the same things about you if you give us a chance.

To do all this, we do have to collect information about you and your tastes. We guarantee you that you'll never have to worry about this information being shared with any outside parties. We may customize the ads we show on the site, but this is done entirely in-house. We definitely will not give any information out about you to anyone at any time. We think that websites that give away your personal life to the highest bidder are pretty scummy. We'd like you to think of us as totally trustworthy, because that will help us give you what you really want, instead of what you'd being willing to admit to in public.

Protecting your Privacy

Only your profile is public to other users. We ask you for information about your personality through quizzes, but your answers to those quizzes are totally private unless you tell us you want to be sharing them. If not, we use that information behind-the-scenes.

Because our site's entirely based on customizing our matches to your personal preferences, the results you get will be pretty generic at the start. It takes some time to customize things to your taste. You can help speed up the process by telling us what you want by e-mail, by rating more profiles and by telling us which profiles you don't want to ever show up in search results again.

Before you decide to sign up, you can always play around on the site as much as you'd like. Once you tell us where you're looking to meet people, you can search through other people's profiles on our site. You won't see profiles from users who've chosen to hide their profiles to the outside world, but you can convince yourself that you might find someone you like here. If you think you'd like to join, it's completely free. And it will always be completely free. We hate websites that charge for their services when the cost to them is nearly zero for each new user. It seems unfair to us, and we think it's bad business for the websites themselves.

And, besides, we pretty sure that we've got a better platform than the paid dating sites anyway. We'd like to think that we can give you something better than they offer for free. And if we don't give you what you want, or you see something that annoys you, just let us know so that we can fix it as soon as possible. We can only succeed if we give you what you want, so the more often you tell us what you want, the better we'll be doing.

Account Termination

Junebug reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to terminate user accounts or otherwise disable continued access to the site to any user, including, without limitation, any user who has violated these terms. Junebug reserves the right to terminate user accounts without prior notice or liability. You acknowledge that Junebug may disable access to your account on its own discretion, and may freely prevent you from accessing any information associated with you.

Users also have the right to terminate their account any time either through their account administration panel, or by contacting Junebug directly.

Service Termination

You agree that the form and nature of the services provided by Junebug may change from time to time without notice. You agree that Junebug may stop, either permanently or temporarily, providing its services at any time without prior notice. Likewise, you may stop using Junebug at any time without notice.

Adult (18+) Users Only

The Site and related services are offered exclusively to users who are over eighteen (18) years of age. Junebug reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to terminate accounts of users who are found to be less than eighteen (18) years of age.

User Safety

User safety is of the utmost importance to us, but please note that, due to the nature of the website, Junebug cannot and does not assure personal safety in the event that you choose to share information with or have direct contact with other users of the Site. Additionally, it is important to note that any information you choose to share publicly through the Site may be accessible through Internet search engines.

By accessing the Site, you agree that any personal information provided by other users of the Site will be used in a responsible and lawful manner.

Privacy

Information shared through the Site will be accessible by other users of the Site, and may also be available through Internet search engines. Note that you can prevent search engines from accessing your profile by enabling the setting 'Allow only registered users to see my profile' in your account configuration settings.

Privacy is of the utmost importance to Junebug, but important and personal information should not be posted on the website if you do not want other people to see it. Junebug will not accept responsibility for protecting or failing to protect information made available through the Site, including, but not limited to, information posted in a user profile or messages sent between users. Junebug utilizes industry-standard technology to protect our systems and our data. However, there is always the chance of a security breach. As such, Junebug cannot and does not guarantee that information stored on our servers or in our databases will not become public under any circumstances.

Accurate Profile Information and Proper Use of Site

Junebug expects that all profile information, photographs, and other identifying information posted by users will be unique and accurate. Junebug reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to terminate user accounts if information on a user's profile is found to be misleading or purposely inaccurate. Junebug also expects that users of the site are seeking some form of legitimate personal relationship with other users, and will not use the Site for other purposes, including, but not limited to, marketing efforts or other commercial endeavors. Junebug may implement automated technology to assess the validity of a user's profile.

No Warranties

The Site and Services are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any Kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and noninfringement. In no event shall Junebug be liable for any claim, damages or other liability, whether in an action of contract, tort or otherwise, arising from, out of or in connection with the Site.

The content of Junebug may include hyperlinks to other web sites or other types of external content or resources. Junebug has no control over any web sites or resources which are provided by third-party companies or persons.

You acknowledge that Junebug is not responsible for the availability of any such external sites or resources, and does not endorse any advertising, products or other materials on or available from such web sites or resources.

You acknowledge that Junebug is not liable for any loss or damage which may be incurred by you as a result of the availability of those external sites or resources, or as a result of any reliance placed by you on the completeness, accuracy or existence of any advertising, products or other materials on, or available from, such web sites or resources.
